WCG India to Participate in WCG 2009 Asian Championship

The World Cyber Games 2009 Asian Championship is to be held in Singapore and takes place in the first week of July. Now we have word that World Cyber Games India (WCG India) will take part for the fourth straight year in the WCG 2009 Asian Championship to be held this year on July 4 and 5, and which is a “by-invitation-only” tournament.

There will be 112 WCG 2008 or 2009 National Final champions from 14 countries in Asia participating in the tournament. The National Final champions come from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka.


“The WCG 2009 Asian Championship has quickly become one of the biggest gaming events in Asia. It is designed to promote eSports in Asia and we look for this year’s event to be one with strong competition and fair play,” Hyoung-Seok Kim, CEO of World Cyber Games stated. “We look forward to meet not only hardcore gamers but also casual gamers to compete and enjoy this pan-Asian tournament.”

The competitors selected will represent their respective countries and the games playable at the event will be FIFA 09 for the PC, DOTA All Stars for the PC and Guitar Hero World Tour for the Xbox 360. Dell, Intel and Samsung will be present at the event and showcasing their gaming products and holding activities for visitors of the WCG 2009 Asian Championship.
